Scoring this project was an intense journey. This branded short features non-stop music and is scored from beginning to end.
The music starts off in a traditional orchestral style to try and sell the fairytale mood that's being introduced we follow the action displayed and briefly even hear medieval music before following the protagonist's journey. With the introduction of the Nymph the music shifts into a more floaty and magical instrumentation and with the start of their love story the music softly accompanies them with lush string orchestration and a slight modern touch. With Greed taking over the music switches into a more modern style - giving up on the fairytale orchestra and introducing more modern elements like pop drums and synthesizers to make the demands of our protagonist feel more cold and relentless and ending on a big bang. With the viewer wishing for the characters to return to how things once were, so does the music - hinting back at the orchestral arrangement. Music stops, when the fight between the lovers starts and only is allowed to return once regret, realisation of what's been done and room for forgiveness is created. But because of what's happened, the music changed, it's modern but with a soft touch - there's a piano playing and lush strings of their love story are allowed to fully be heard once they hug and therefore are reunited. When the message of the branded short is revealed to the viewer, the music perspective transitions one last time from both of them to a thumping, soft electronic beat as a subtle call to action.
